It’s been over a year since I put a new entry on this web
site. My apologies to the hundreds of people who check this site daily for interesting
snippets about my personal life, I was really busy this year. Today I’m
going to write something about what kinds of food I’ve been eating.
On a less serious note, last night I saw Scott Alcohalocaust at the Lopez show
and he said, “You’ve been getting my emails haven’t you? I
haven’t seen you at a show in a long time.” I said, “Two kids”
and that surprised him. Most people I talked to were surprised to find out that
Keri and I had another kid. Then I realized I needed to update the web site
and send out some emails. After all, I know what Scott has been up to because
I’ve been getting his emails. How else can I expect to keep in contact
with old friends if I don’t update my web site and send out emails? Then
if we run into each other in three years we won’t have all that catching
up to do and we can just get drunk.
From about February to October of 2004 I usually woke up around 4 am to get
to work and got home at about 4pm. The overtime pay was nice, but to be honest
I prefer the sanity of an eight hour work day. Especially because when you have
kids you can’t come home and take a nap or zone out in front of the T.V.
It’s pretty constant, eat, play, potty, bath, ride on my back, library
books, another round of Uno, etc. You can’t tell a two year old to give
you a 10 minute break. On weekends Keri and I most often did overdue household
chores or drove up to Sacramento where I’d usually get to drink a few
beers before falling asleep in the sitting position at Bill or Dave’s
house. There were some good parties and a wedding along the way. It was actually
a great year, just not a lot of free time or any road-trips beyond BBQ swim
parties in Roseville.
Anyway, you want to know where to get a great Cheeseburger? The best cheeseburger in town is now at 7-11. I’m not kidding! Tony Roma’s is stocking 7-11s with $2.99 bacon cheeseburgers and they are awesome; peppery, juicy, beefy, tender, and very cheesy on good bread to boot. Don’t bother going to McDonalds. The best hamburger you can get is at 7-11. Just put it in their microwave for 45 seconds and you’re set! I usually have mine with a 16 ounce coffee. An uplifting bright spot on any day…
Another food I’ve been fond of this year is Chicken Wings. I may not be alone here because I started out by buying those big bags of Foster Farms wings at Costco, but now I notice more companies sell frozen wings at Raleys. I usually sit down with some blue cheese dip and about 15 or 20 wings. A great snack to have while reading the paper, I usually suck the bones dry and then spit the cartilage on the floor for Chongo. I notice that most pizza places sell wings now. I usually want to order pizza just so I can try their wings. This place called Twisted pizza in Pleasanton has some great jumbo wings.
When dining out my new favorite meal is at Wendy’s. The chili salad is hands down the best! I think the reason it is so good is because they’ve always sold good chili so putting it on salad wasn’t a big jump. The great chili is what makes the salad, but it comes with good salsa, sour cream, and chips too. Really great. The crappy fiesta salad at McDonalds is not even a fraction as good.
For breakfast I have to mention Jimmy Dean frozen omelets! The eggs actually taste great! Not flaky at all and very quick for when you wake up at 3am like I did this morning.
