Coming in 2008! THE PROBE MOVIE

Canadian filmaker Colin Burrowes will base his next full length movie entirely on my writings in The Probe. I told him that, as long as the guy who plays me in the movie is handsome and well hung, he has my complete blessing. You can check out the web site at www.duramaterproductions.com

I don't sell records anymore. I've put them in the hands of people who knowwhat they're doing. The Hickey CD has been repressed by Steve at 1234 Go! Records in Oakland. The Your Mother CD has been repressed by David at Very Small Records in Spokane WA. All of the other records on Probe Records are in the capable hands of Rob at Vinehell Records in San Jose. You can click on "store" to see what is sold out and if it's not sold out Rob should have it for you.

Feb. 13th 2003 Some quick and poorly written record reviews

Getting ready for the new season, Lydia and I at Fanfest 2003.

Jan. 13th 2003 Rockass wrote this for Probe #7, but there weren't any photos or graphics to go with it so it got cut. This was New Year's Eve '97 I think. My brother's former roommate was reading old Probe #7 articles on the computer and he told me this was his favorite story. I thought that was ironic as it was one of only two that I didn't print.

Jan. 7th 2003 Apparently Trey Parker and Matt Stone were Probe readers during the Hap's years.

Jan. 6th 2003 "Hey Muentz, whatcha been up to?" This...

Nov 13th 2002 Brad & Stacy get married, Matty Luv dies, Aaron Probe - not the brightest crayon in the box. Lydia talks to me for the first time. My life story.

July 10th 2002 Yes, moron, I can drive a stick shift.

June 12th 2002 Buy these CDs at half.com (GC5, Lopez, The Bananas, The Fleshies)

May 11th 2002 Stay at home dad, Lydia's first punk show, and tips on drinking. Here.

March 11th 2002 Lydia Arminé Muentz has arrived, and we have the first set of photos.

Clint throws out the first pitch for the Oakland A's in the '73 World Series.

Feb 22nd 2002I deleted most of the really old record reviews from this site. There were hundreds. To take their place I compiled sort of a "best of" selection from all of the promo CDs I wrote reviews for in the past two years. They are labeled the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Feb 8th 2002 Aaron discusses dieting. Couple new pics on the Friends page.

Feb 7th 2002 Some pics from New Years Eve here.

Jan 28th 2002 At long last, Aaron & Keri's wedding photos!

Jan. 25th 2002 I just found this interview - it's a couple years old, but it's short and sweet.

Jan. 8th 2002 Remember when I stopped doing The Probe I said that there would be a new
zine called Apemen Cometh instead? Some of you may have noticed that Apemen
Cometh never came out. I did actually do some writing for it. The most
noteworthy was a long interview I did with Jim Goad while he was still in
prison. You can link to that here.

Other than that there was also an interview with David Hayes of Very Small
Records, who also started Lookout Records, and a column I wrote about the
Vegas Shakedown. I sent those to Spank zine just before Spank zine decided
not to publish any more issues. They did post them on their website though.

OLD NEWS

THE PROBE IS DEAD.
I've given the excuse in the past that I can not continue publishing The Probe because of my continuing financial problems. This is quite true. However, there is a lot more to it than that. I think The Probe was one of the most entertaining fanzines around for several years. I was proud of each issue. I did a thorough job of covering several aspects of the punk rock scene and I had great fun at the same time. However, I can not say the same for Probes #7 and #8. Reader response has also been much less enthusiastic. For the last two issues I used the same winning formula of girls and booze that worked with previous issues, but the content and the writing itself was much less inspired. At the time I figured I was just going through a slump and better times were ahead, but that was only my positive attitude getting the best of me. The truth is that I'm well past my prime and too old for the lifestyle that a good issue of The Probe requires. Four years ago I could still get by on three or four hours of sleep a night, go to work, stay out all night, and keep on top of things. I had several fantastic drunken adventures every week. Back then I couldnąt wait to get home from work so I could start writing and working on The Probe. These days I can't wait to get home so I can sit my fat ass down and watch Tivo. Sadly, the amount of alcohol I drink is no longer synonymous with how stupendous my drunken adventures will be, but on how quickly I'll pass out and how debilitating my hangover will be the next day. Not to be a defeatist, my life is better than ever. I'll always have new interests. It's just the zine that I am retiring.

RECORD LABEL/PRESS PEOPLE If you are writing to find out if I reviewed one of your releases then go to the reviews page. I will try to keep it updated.
